Multi-Column Spar - MCS

The Multi-Column Spar is similar to the MCF with a very deep draft. The four cellular columns at each corner are tied together with truss systems at the keel and just below the water line. A heave plate at the keel provides added vertical mass. The risers pass down through guides located in the keel truss. The risers are either tensioned from the top with hydraulic tensioners or from the bottom by the bottom tensioning system. The hull is assembled in a graving dock. The dock is then flooded and the MCS towed and upended near shore and the topsides is float-over. The MCS with topsides is towed to the field site and moored
