Plug installation system for deep water subsea well

The CRIS is a sophisticated new product that will address the risk, safety and cost factors of offshore installations as production moves to deeper waters,
With the CRIS, the installation tower and relevant tensioner clamps on a vessel are replaced by a reel that uses the capstan principle to ensure controlled installation. This significantly reduces the risk of damaging the riser, ensuring simpler, faster and safer product installation, without the need to work at great height. It also allows for simpler vessel architecture and the possibility to design multi-purpose installation vessels.

Titan Platform: The basic Titan Platform design is easily capable of deployment in 200 ft of water depth, which enables the turbines to operate far offshore with the flexibility to be redeployed in its rated water depth any where. In the oilfield platforms of the jackup design operate in 600 ft of water and in the worst storm conditions in the world.

This map shows the location of active, inactive, and extinct volcanoes THROUGHOUT the world. Each single volcano is shown as a single, triangle network. In many places in the world, there are so many volcanoes in a small area That They Appear on this map as a cluster instead of single triangles. These areas include the Andes Mountains in South America, Iceland in the North Atlantic Ocean, the Philippine Islands, and the East African Rift Zone. Although some volcanoes are extinct or Have Not erupted in recent times, These areas still exhibit May tectonic activity as the magma below (or the crustal plates) shift in geologic time. Generally, there is a strong relationship Between where the volcanoes are, and where tectonic activity on Earth Occurs, at subduction zones, divergent boundaries, transform boundaries, and "hot spots." From this map, it is easy to see the famous "Ring of Fire" that encompasses Most of the Pacific Ocean, where the boundaries of this subduction zones Comprise ocean in the east, north, and west, to transform boundary in California, and a deep trench formation south of the Islands of Japan.

A mechanical engineering professor Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) has received an award from National Science Foundation (NSF) to explore the use of tethered undersea kites to generate electricity from tides and currents

OSM
Offshore has agreed to enter into a 6 years contract with Norwegian
energy company Statoil Petroleum AS to operate the Heidrun FSU.
The
Heidrun FSU is currently being built by Samsung Heavy Industries at the
world’s second-largest shipyard in Geoje Island, Republic of Korea and
is expected to be on location at the Heidrun field in the first half of
2015.The contract between OSM Offshore and Statoil Petroleum for
full management of the Heidrun FSU is a long-term contract with options
for further extension until 13 years.
The Heidrun FSU will be
permanently connected to a buoy, and the oil will be lifted from the FSU
by use of shuttle tankers. The FSU will be permanently manned and has
an expected design life of 30 years.

.Alstom’s full-scale tidal device installed at the European Marine Energy Centre (EMEC) in Orkney, Scotland, has now injected over 100MWh of electricity into the grid
This is a major milestone in the development of Alstom's tidal stream device which follows the earlier connection of the turbine to the grid and the progressive ramp up to full nominal power of 1MW over the past months.
"These successful milestones with Alstom's tidal turbine are reinforcing our customer's confidence in our technology and in our ability to propose a reliable machine to the market. With these tests Alstom is becoming one of the key stakeholders of the tidal stream market ", stated Alstom New Energies Senior Vice-President Jacques Jamart.
The latest technical milestone is part of the ReDAPT 1 testing program which aims at demonstrating the performance of the machine in different operational conditions. Thanks to the generation of 100MWh of electricity, it is building confidence in the endurance of the machine, and in its reliability. In addition, with autonomous runs without interruption, the machine has demonstrated its ability to efficiently operate independently.
Alstom's tidal technology has unique technical characteristics 2 which allow to minimise installation and maintenance costs: the buoyancy of the turbine enables the nacelle to be easily towed to and from the point of operation and attached to its pre-installed foundation. This reduces the time and costs needed to install or retrieve the turbine and avoids the need for specialist vessels and divers.
Tests will continue at Orkney in different operational conditions into 2014, to demonstrate further autonomous running capabilities and efficiency of the turbine while generating electricity to the grid. These testing campaigns will be followed by other tests including deployment in pilot farms before the start of full commercial production.

Ocean Power Technologies, Inc. (“OPT” or the “Company”) and Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. (“MES”) today announced that they have signed a new agreement to cooperate in the development and commercialization of OPT’s PowerBuoy
.Building on the successful work previously done together by the companies, this agreement sets forth the terms of technology licensing and other financial arrangements between MES and OPT regarding OPT's PowerBuoy systems. Under the terms of the agreement, MES has the licensed right to sell OPT's PowerBuoys for both grid-connected utility and autonomous applications in Japan, the Philippines, Malaysia, Vietnam, Mozambique, South Africa and Namibia
